Writing and editing

The Brief

Strong writing skills is something that good communicators share with journalists. That’s one reason why some reporters change fields during their careers. What is less common is to find a public relations professional gig as a freelance reporter, but that’s what Colleen did. Working for Crittenden Publishing, Colleen reported for three magazines, PreLaw, the National Jurist and Golf Inc., earning front page covers for a number of her articles. She has also written speeches for executives (one earned a Globe and Mail “speech of note” mention), scripts for videos, presentations and training materials, content for websites and social media campaigns, major municipal plans, reports and so on. Her work has earned her recognition from both the Canadian Public Relations Society and the International Association of Business communicators.

“I have worked with Colleen for many years on a variety of projects and I have always been very pleased with the results of her work. She is always looking at the big picture and where each assignment fits in with my organization’s overall strategy. She consistently offers excellent and carefully thought-out suggestions to help me meet my goals and objectives. I have called on Colleen for help in a pinch several times and she has always come through for me, providing top-quality work on short deadlines. She is my go-to choice for communication strategy and implementation, no question.”
