An organization may have a strong voice in some areas, but not in others as dedicated volunteers struggle to get recognition for their important work. This was the case for Amnesty International in Atlantic Canada as the local chapter tried to raise awareness of human rights issues.
To help amplify AI’s voice, Colleen produced two special events — a public forum on violence against indigenous women and a staged production for women’s rights on International Women’s Day. Both events had blockbuster attendance, successful media coverage and the latter resulted in a record-breaking fundraising amount for the chapter.
Colleen has also provided communication workshops to chapter members at Amnesty International’s Eastern Canada conferences and helped raise awareness and grow participation in the annual letter-writing campaign in Nova Scotia.
“I can't say how much I enjoyed your presentation yesterday. It was excellent! It was just what we needed. We really benefited from your mix of humour and practical skills to show us how to set goals and realistically manage our work as activists. Thanks again for everything!”
